Stockholm, 23 October 2008

The Swedish Travel and Tourism Gala offered a shower of prizes when the winners of the Grand Tourism Award, the TRIP Award and the international TRIP Global Award were announced. The list of this year’s winners is as follows:

The Grand Tourism Award
Winner: Kolmårdens Djurpark.
The Grand Tourism Award was presented by the Foundation for the Promotion of Expertise in Tourism, with its principal Nutek.
Other finalists were the Municipality of Ystad with Wallander, the Havets Hus saltwater aquarium, Klässbols Linen Mill, Storsjöyran (The Great Lake Festival) and IKEA Haparanda.

TRIP Global Award – “The best experience in Sweden”
Winner: ICEHOTEL
“The best experience in Sweden” was voted for by foreign travel agencies from France, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands. The distinction was awarded by the Swedish Travel and Tourist Industry Federation in association with Visit Sweden. Other finalist were Vildmark i Värmland, ICEHOTEL, Säfsen Resort and the Vasa Museum.

The TRIP Award
Awarded by the Swedish Travel and Tourist Industry Federation to successful entrepreneurs within three categories:
• Comeback of the year: Grinda Wärdshus. Other finalists were Haman Scandinavia and Hotel Borjarfjäll & Spa.
• Newcomer of the year: Skogens Konung/Kolarbyn. Other finalists were Växbo Lin and Unlimited Travel Group.
• Best use of marketing and distribution: Stockholm Pride. Other finalists were Ving.se and Barnsemester.se.
